My name is Rui, I’m a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Bioengineering, Queen Mary University of London. My research interests include development and differentiation, embryology, stem cell biology, nuclear and chromatin architecture and tissue engineering.

chromobiologist is a chronicle of my adventures in research, academia, as well my review of the world, from a largely scientific prospective. I also dabble in science graphics. I’ll be using this blog to post some of my work. The chromo is a send up to my origins in chromatin biology. While this remains a fundamental interest of mine, my fingers are in a few more pies, these days.

My goal isn’t just to stimulate discussion with other academics and scientists, but to communicate what may otherwise come across as esoteric research to the world at large, and hopefully manage to convince a few readers of its importance (at least to me) in the process.
